
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. --- Robert Morris University proved its NAIA No. 2 billing correct Tuesday night at the Sears Centre cruising to an 87-68 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over University of St. Francis.
The Eagles (20-1, 2-0 CCAC) jumped on top of the Saints in the game's first 4:29 holding a 10-point lead, 14-4, at that juncture before nearly doubling that count (33-14) by the 8:17 mark. At halftime, it was a 50-27 game with Robert Morris shooting 56.8 percent from the field (21-of-37) and the Saints just 35.3 (12-of-34).
St. Francis, which committed a season-high 22 turnovers on the night, was never in the game as evidenced by the fact that the final deficit was its lowest point differential since the 2:34 mark of the initial period.
Robert Morris, which boasted five scorers in double figures, held as commanding a lead as 33 points in the second half, despite the Saints outrebounding the Eagles, 51-35, for the game.
Sophomore forward Andrew Lerg (DeWitt H.S./DeWitt, MI) led the Saints (12-8, 0-2) with 17 points. Senior forward Lukas Zebrauskas (Stagg H.S./Palos Heights, IL) was the lone bright spot for USF recording his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior center Jordan Lee (Southeastern Oklahoma State University/Champaign, IL) led all rebounders with 12 boards. He scored eight points.
Robert Morris' Tremell Adams posted the highest scoring output with his 22 markers.
Teammate Diante Watkins netted 11 points, while dishing out 12 assists opposite just three turnovers from his point guard position.
St. Francis, which had its three-game winning streak snapped, faces Roosevelt University in Chicago on Saturday at 3 p.m.
