JOLIET, Ill. - First-place University of St. Francis won its sixth consecutive match and its 13th in its last 14 tries Tuesday night with a three-game sweep of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Trinity Christian at the Recreation Center. The Saints (21-8, 7-0) remained perfect in the CCAC and maintained their half-game lead over second-place and No. 11-ranked Olivet Nazarene.

USF let a 24-20 lead in game one get away and then had to fight off three game points before rallying for a 29-27 victory to open the match. The Saints cruised to a 25-17 win in game two and held off the Trolls, 25-22, in game three.

Freshman outside hitter Jazzmyne Robbins (La Salle-Peru H.S./Peru, IL) led the Saints' offense with 14 kills. Sophomore right-side attacker Sarah Ahline (Lemont H.S./Lemont, IL) added 10 kills and junior middle blocker Lauren Hoffman (Plainfield South H.S./Plainfield, IL) contributed 9 with just 1 hitting error in 18 total attempts. Freshman setter Ashley Richards (Wilmington H.S./Wilmington, IL) ran the offense with 36 assists.

Hoffman led the Saints' defense with 7 blocks. Junior middle blocker Kyrsten Becker (Rolling Meadows H.S./Arlington Heights, IL) topped the team with 17 digs and 19 serve receptions, while freshman Ashley Thompson (Portage H.S./Hobart, IN) added 11 digs.

USF's 7-0 start in CCAC play matches its best since 2003 when the Saints also won their first seven league outings. The Saints have also matched last year's win total with 21.

The Saints look to extend the streak on Thursday night when they travel to Elgin for a CCAC match at Judson University.

USF returns home Friday and Saturday to play host to its own Big Guns Classic at the Recreation Center. The Saints play Cornerstone (MI) at 5 p.m. Friday and then face Montreat (NC) at 7 p.m. Saturday's USF opponents will be St. Ambrose (IA) at 9 a.m. and Robert Morris at 3 p.m.
