JOLIET, Ill. - Freshman Amber Zukowski (Andrew H.S./Tinley Park, IL) did a little relief work in goal last week and was rewarded for her efforts by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Zukowski was named Defensive Player of the Week after posting a 4-0 shutout at Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) on Wednesday and then making 23 saves in a 2-0 loss to No. 15-ranked and CCAC-leading Olivet Nazarene on Saturday. The 23 saves equaled the second-best single-game mark in USF history.

Zukowski, who is a starting midfielder for the Saints this season and is second on the team in scoring with 5 goals, moved to the nets when the starting keeper was injured during the middle of USF's 1-1 tie at Saint Xavier on Oct. 3. She returned to the field on Tuesday in a match at No. 21 Trinity Christian.
