ELGIN, Ill. -- Host Judson took control of the game early and pulled away to a 7-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer victory over University of St, Francis Tuesday afternoon at Dawson Field.
The conference-leading Eagles (13-1-0, 6-1-0) took a 1-0 lead in the game's 16th minute when the Saints put a ball into their own net on an unusual bounce as they tried to clear the ball after a Judson shot. The Eagles rode that early momentum and added three more goals before halfime.
USF (6-7-2, 3-3-1) was held without a shot in the first half but came back to put four shots on goal in the second half and finally got on the scoreboard in the 70th minute when freshman forward Victor Trujillo (De La Salle Institute/Chicago, IL) scored his team-leading seventh goal off an assist from junior midfielder Thimi Sinjari (Morton West H.S./Berwyn, IL).
The loss was USF's second in a row and dropped the Saints to 3-3-1 in CCAC play. USF returns home on Friday to play Robert Morris in a CCAC match at 3 p.m. at the Galowich YMCA Field in Joliet.
