LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Competing against teams from all NCAA Divisions as well as the NAIA, the third-ranked University of St. Francis men's cross country team captured 16th place at the 31-team Greater Louisville Classic Saturday afternoon. | Results
Iona University, ranked eighth in NCAA Division I, won the event with 47 points. Columbia University (NCAA D1 #28) was next with 110 points, followed by the University of Georgia (143), the University of Missouri (152) and the University of Texas (NCAA D1 #6, 166). St. Francis topped four competing NAIA squads with 196 points.
Senior Phil Rizzo (Evergreen Park, Ill./ Evergreen Park) led the Saints and finished 39th overall among 255 runners as he covered the 8K course in 24:35.
Junior Mike Blaszczyk (Novi, Mich./ Novi) was next to cross the line for USF. His time of 24:46 was good for 56th place.
Rounding out the Saints' top five were junior Dylan Reyes (Sterling, Ill./ Newman Central Catholic) (105th place, 25:20), freshman Brandon Carson (Waterford, Mich./ Mott) (121st, 25:28) and sophomore Danny Bahret (Channahon, Ill./ Minooka) (152nd, 25:47).
The Saints return to action at the Benedictine University Invitational Friday afternoon.
