MEDINAH, Ill. -- University of St. Francis women's golf coach Tom O'Connor was named the recipient of the Bill Heald Career Achievement Award at the Illinois PGA 2009 Special Awards Ceremony on Oct. 21 at Medinah Country Club.O'Connor, who is in his seventh season as the head coach of the USF's women's program, was honored for his lengthy service to the game of golf in Illinois and in particular for his outstanding success as a teacher of the game.

"They (the award winners at the ceremony) all share a common thread," said Illinois PGA President Trey VanDyke. :They tirelessly promote the game of golf through teaching, merchandising, community relations and an overall dedication to perfection. These individuals are looked upon by their members, students, patron and fellow PGA golf professionals as leaders, mentors and true stewards of the game. They are an inspiration to all of us who work in, play in and enjoy this great game of golf."
