JOLIET, Ill. - Holy Cross College (IN) scored 4 first-half goals - with three of them in the first 15 minutes - and never let St. Francis back into the game as the visiting Saints defeated the host Saints, 4-0, and ended USF's men's soccer season on Sunday afternoon at the Galowich YMCA.

The loss eliminated USF (6-10-2, 3-6-1) from contention for the sixth and final spot in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference post-season tournament. Holy Cross (3-14-1, 2-8) also did not qualify for the tournament. USF lost its final five games of the season after standing 6-5-2 overall and 3-1-1 following a win at Trinity Christian on Oct. 14.

Holy Cross settled this one early, scoring goals on its first two shots of the game. In fact, all four Holy Cross shots on goal found their way into the net as USF's crew of four goalkeepers was not credited with a single save on the day.

USF managed to get off 15 shots and had 5 on goal but all the shots on goal were turned away by HCC goalkeeper Damian Marciniak.

Despite the five-game losing streak to end the season, USF completed its finest season since posting an 8-9-0 record in 2005. Highlighting the season was a 2-0 victory over defending CCAC champion Illinois Tech on Sept. 30 in Joliet and a 2-1 overtime victory at NCAA Division II Illinois Springfield on Sept. 3.

Freshman forward Victor Trujillo (De La Salle Institute/Chicago, IL) led the Saints in scoring with 8 goals and 17 points. That represented the most goals and points scored by a Saint since Piotr Chrobak scored 9 goals and posted 28 points in the 2004 season.
