BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Olivet Nazarene swept three straight games from University of St. Francis and captured the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season championship over the second-place Saints on Tuesday night at McHie Arena. The Tigers won by scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-19.

St. Francis led by a 4-2 count early in the first set but Olivet (30-8, 10-0) rolled to the easy 13-point win. Game two was close throughout with the Tigers making a run at the end to secure the 25-22 victory. The 13th-ranked Tigers then won game three and after breaking away from a 14-14 tie.

 

Sophomore right-side attacker Sarah Ahline (Lemont H.S./Lemont, IL) led USF with 10 kills and just two hitting errors in 23 total attempts. Senior libero Courtney Ambrosch (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL) topped the Saints' defense with 19 digs and junior middle blocker Lauren Hoffman (Plainfield South H.S./Plainfield, IL) had 5 blocks.

 

USF (24-14, 8-2) will play host to one of two pool-play sessions this weekend in the first round of the CCAC Championship Tournament. The Saints will be joined in their four-team field by third-place Illinois Tech, sixth-place Trinity International and seventh-place Cardinal Stritch. All four teams will play one another on Friday and Saturday with the winner of the pool advancing to the tournament championship match on Nov. 13. The other four-team pool matches will be played this weekend at Olivet Nazarene. The championship match on the 13th will be contested at the site of the higher remaining seed.
