University of St. Francis junior Michael McElyea (Sangamon Valley H.S./Illiopolis, IL) has been named a Daktronics NAIA Men's Track & Field Scholar-Athlete, it was announced by the NAIA national office.

McElyea, who competed in the 1,500-, 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs this past outdoor season, currently boasts a 3.73 grade point average. He is majoring in Accounting.

A member of USF's cross country team, as well, McElyea was an all-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference choice this past fall and competed in the NAIA National Cross Country Championships last November.
