JOLIET, Ill. - Senior libero Courtney Ambrosch (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL) was named to the college division third team of the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America team. It marks the second consecutive year that Ambrosch has received the distinguished honor.
The college division includes all institutions in NCAA Divisions II and III and the NAIA. The team is selected in a vote by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). In addition to academic excellence (all honorees must carry a minimum 3.30 grade point average and be at least a sophomore), the student-athletes must also be starters or key reserves and have significant on-court contributions to their team's success. Ambrosch owns a perfect 4.00 GPA at USF and is an accounting major. She will graduate from USF this December.
She has been named to the All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference squad in all three of her seasons since transferring to St. Francis and was named the CCAC's Libero of the Year this past season. She was voted the league's top Libero after leading the Saints and the CCAC in digs (824). Her average of 5.28 digs per game led the Saints and was third best in the conference. Ambrosch was the only Saint to play in all 156 games in the 2009 season and was USF's only player to don the different colored Libero jersey.
