HANOVER PARK, Ill. - University of St. Francis swept all six singles matches and all three doubles bouts en route to an easy 9-0 win over Judson University in men's tennis action on Tuesday. The victory was USF coach Jim Trudeau's 600th as a college and high school tennis coach.

The Saints (3-1) won all six single matches in relatively easy fashion, with Judson (2-4) winning more than three games in only two of the 12 sets that were played.

 

USF got singles wins at No. 1 from senior Scott Surges (Providence Catholic H.S./Joliet, IL), at No. 2 from junior Jake Quigley (Joliet Catholic Academy/Joliet, IL), at No. 3 from freshman Andres Stecher (Pestalozzi H.S./Buenos Aires, Argentina), at No. 4 from junior Erick Dobrzynski (Moraine Valley CC/Justice, IL), at No. 5 from freshman Nikola Milenkovic (Anglo American School of Belgrade/Belgrade, Serbia) and at No. 6 from sophomore Eddie Semik (Marian Catholic H.S./Park Forest, IL).

 

Quigley and junior Jakub Szymanski (Bethany College/Poznan, Poland) won at No. 1 doubles, with Dobrzynski and Stecher winning at No. 2 and Milenkovic and Semik getting the victory at No. 3.

 

Trudeau, who is in his seventh season at St. Francis, now has 68 wins at the collegiate level with the USF men. He earned 532 wins during a 33-year coaching career with both the girls and boys teams at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

 

USF returns home on Saturday for a pair of matches at Challenge Fitness in Lockport. The Saints play a pair of NCAA Division III schools, meeting Cornell College of Iowa at 2 p.m. and North Central College at 7 p.m.
