
ORLANDO, Fla. --- University of St. Francis has started fast on its annual spring trek through Florida notching its second victory in less than 24 hours with a 9-0 whitewash of King's College (PA) on Sunday morning.
One day earlier, the Saints handed Warner University (FL) a 7-2 defeat.
King's, which was making its season debut, posed little trouble for the Saints, who yielded just one game in the three doubles matches combined. In singles play, the Lions managed to claim no more than four games in any one set.
Senior Luis Oliveira (Seward County C.C., KS/Sao Lourenco, Brazil) lost only one game on the day in his two matches winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and 8-0 combined with senior Scott Surges (Providence Catholic H.S./Joliet, IL) at No. 1 doubles.
Juniors Jacob Quigley (Saint Xavier University/Joliet, IL) and Jakub Szymanski (Bethany College, KS/Poznan, Poland) also won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles with Szymanski earning a 6-0, 6-1 singles win and Quigley, a 6-3, 6-1 decision.
Junior Erick Dobrzynski (Moraine Valley C.C./Justice, IL) and sophomore Eddie Semik (Marian Catholic H.S./Park Forest, IL) nailed down the final doubles win, 8-1.
Freshmen Andres Stecher (Pestalozzi H.S./Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Nikola Milenkovic (Anglo American School of Belgrade/Belgrade, Serbia) posted identical 6-2, 6-0 wins in singles action with senior Matt Shay (Joliet Junior College/Morris, IL) capping off the sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 nod.
The Saints (7-1) take their five-match winning streak up against Webber International University (FL) Monday afternoon.
