ORLANDO, Fla. --- NCAA II Saginaw Valley State University (MI) claimed a pair of doubles victories and then won its first four singles matches to earn a 6-3 decision over University of St. Francis Monday night.

USF (10-5) avoided the sweep in doubles action by the No. 3 team of juniors Barb Koziol (Reavis H.S./Burbank, IL) and Emily Zajda (Joliet Catholic Academy/Plainfield, IL) securing an 8-4 win over the Cardinals' Lindy Coon and Theresa Frederick.

The pair also won their respective singles matches with Zajda posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 5 spot over Coon and Koziol winning 6-3, 6-4 against Frederick at No. 6.

Saginaw Valley State (2-8) won each of the other four singles matches in straight sets to go along with 8-1 and 8-0 doubles victories at Nos. 1 and 2.

USF, which had won five of its last six matches prior to Monday night, continues play down in Florida on Tuesday against Ursinus College (PA).
