BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak snapped by NAIA No. 23-ranked Olivet Nazarene University, suffering an 8-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference setback Thursday afternoon.
The Saints (10-8, 2-1 CCAC) gained their only victory at No. 5 singles, where sophomore Ewelina Szwed (Romeoville, Ill./ Romeoville) scored a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Each of the other five singles matches were won in two sets by Olivet Nazarene (10-5, 4-1).
Szwed nearly made it two wins on the day in doubles action, but came up just short with teammate Devan Trueba (Chicago, Ill./ Marist) in the No. 3 slot in an 8-5 decision. That was the closest the Saints would get in doubles play with Olivet Nazarene winning the other two matches, 8-3 and 8-2.
It gets no easier for the Saints on Saturday when they head to Milwaukee, Wis. to face No. 20 Cardinal Stritch University.
