ORLANDO, Fla. --- For the first time this season, University of St. Francis has been saddled with back-to-back losses after suffering a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Ursinus College (PA) on Tuesday afternoon.
Less than 24 hours earlier, Saginaw Valley State University (MI) dealt the Saints a 6-3 setback on Monday night.
Ursinus (2-1) opened up a 2-1 lead after doubles play with juniors Barb Koziol (Reavis H.S./Burbank, IL) and Emily Zajda (Joliet Catholic Academy/Plainfield, IL) garnering the lone St. Francis victory, 8-5, at the No. 3 spot.
Both individuals also claimed their singles matches with Zajda outlasting Chelesea Carman, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7), and Koziol handling Caroline Lippe, 6-2, 6-1.
USF, however, could only notch one other singles win - sophomore Agnieszka Belza (Nazareth Academy/Chicago, IL) at No. 3, 6-1, 7-5 - in falling by the slimmest of margins.
Sophomore Danielle Emola (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) played tough at both No. 2 singles (a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 loss) and No. 1 doubles with Belza (a 9-7 setback), but had nothing to show for it by day's end.
The Saints (10-6) have a busy day on Wednesday facing Saint Mary's College (IN) in the morning before matching up with Malone University (OH) in the evening.
