
QUINCY, Ill. --- University of St. Francis registered its 10th victory of the season on Thursday defeating NCAA II Quincy University, 8-1, with no fewer than four Saints earning a pair of wins each.
That list included the No. 1 doubles team of seniors Scott Surges (Providence Catholic H.S./Joliet, IL) and Luis Oliveira (Seward County CC, KS/Sao Lourenco, Brazil), who combined to claim an 8-4 victory before gaining respective 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles.
At No. 2 doubles, juniors Jakub Szymanski (Bethany College, KS/Poznan, Poland) and Jacob Quigley (Saint Xavier University/Joliet, IL) won easily, 8-1. Szymanski then went on to win, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles with Quigley recording a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4.
USF (10-4) wrapped up the day by freshman Andres Stecher (Pestalozzi H.S./Buenos Aires, Argentina) producing a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and junior Erick Dobrzynski (Moraine Valley C.C./Justice, IL) gaining a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 nod in the No. 6 singles slot.
The Saints host Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) Tuesday at 3 p.m.
