
PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - University of St. Francis captured first place in the five-team field at the Troll Relays hosted by Trinity Christian College on Wednesday at the TCC campus. The meet was the outdoor season-opening event for the Saints.
Freshman thrower Chelsea Rimington (Lena-Winslow H.S./Lena, IL) was a double-winner for the Saints, taking first-place ribbons in both the shot put and discus throw. Rimington, who also is a member of the USF volleyball team, tossed the shot a distance of 11.52 meters (37'9.50") to win by exactly one foot over the second-place finisher. Rimington won the discus with a throw of 32.62 meters (107'0.25") and won that contest by nearly two feet over the nearest competitor.
The Saints also got first-place finishes from senior Jessica Horn (Montague H.S./Montague, MI) in the 100-meter hurdles and senior Jennifer Beard (Plainfield Central H.S./Plainfield, IL) in the hammer throw.
Horn won her race with a time of 15.70 seconds, finishing six-tenths of a second ahead of her twin sister Jennifer Horn (Montague H.S./Montague, MI) who ran second.
Beard took the hammer competition with a throw of 43.62 meters (143'1.25") and finished nearly 35 feet ahead of her nearest competition.
The Saints next travel to the University of Chicago on April 9 and 10 to compete in the Chicagoland Championships.
