LOCKPORT, Ill. - University of St. Francis pushed its record to 11-4 and won for the fourth time in its last five outings with a 9-0 blanking of Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) Tuesday afternoon at the Challenge Fitness outdoor courts.

It marked the fifth time this season that USF has defeated a foe by a perfect 9-0 score.

The Saints won all three doubles matches and all six singles bouts in relatively easy fashion. In fact, only one Calumet player won as many as two games in any set in singles play.

Scott Surges (Providence Catholic H.S./Joliet, IL) and junior Jake Quigley (Joliet Catholic Academy/Joliet, IL) won at No. 1 doubles by an 8-3 count and each won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.

Freshman Andres Stecher (Pestalozzi H.S./Buenos Aires, Argentina) and junior Erick Dobrzynski (Moraine Valley CC/Justice, IL) turned the same trick at No. 2 doubles and at Nos. 3 and 4 singles.

Sophomore Eddie Semik (Marian Catholic H.S./Park Forest, IL) and junior Matt Nosbisch (Metamora H.S./Metamora, IL) each took advantage of an opportunity to play by pairing up to win at No. 3 doubles by an 8-1 count. Semik also won at No. 5 singles. Senior Matt Shay (Morris H.S./Morris, IL) earned the win at No. 6 singles. For Semik it marked just his third singles bout and fourth doubles appearance of the season. Nosbisch made his USF collegiate debut, and Shay was playing just his second singles match of 2009-10.

The Saints now prepare for a busy weekend trip to Grand Rapids, Mich. On Friday, USF faces No. 25 Aquinas College (MI), the No. 1 seeded team in the NAIA Midwest independent region rankings. The Saints conclude the trip with a Saturday morning match at Davenport University (MI).
