JOLIET - University of St. Francis won a tight battle over rivals Lewis and Wheaton to win the 36-hole USF Women's Golf Spring Invitational Saturday at Inwood Golf Course.

The Saints finished with a two-day total of 722, defeating Lewis (723) by a single stroke and Wheaton by three shots (725). The Saints held a one-stroke edge on the Flyers after Friday's first round and matched their neighboring foe with a team score of 362 in Saturday's final 18 holes. 

Junior Vicky McGowan (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Mokena, IL) was USF's low scorer, placing fourth individually with rounds of 87 and 88 for a total of 175. Sophomore Rachael Anderson (Joliet JC/Joliet, IL) was fifth with a 178 (91-87) and freshman Kali Hale (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL) tied for sixth at 184 (93-91).

Nicole Tucker of Lewis was the tourney's medalist with rounds of 85 and 84 for a 36-hole score of 169. Wheaton's Casi Blanton (89-84) and Brittany Bronson (90-83) tied for second overall with scores of 173.
