JOLIET, Ill. - Sophomore third baseman Jenny Festin (Lockport H.S./Lockport, IL) went 4-for-4 with an RBI on each hit to lead University of St. Francis to a 9-4 win over Cardinal Stritch Sunday in the final game of the USF Spring Breast Cancer Fundraiser Tournament at the Inwood Softball Complex.

The win salvaged the day for the Saints (17-20, 5-5) who dropped a 5-0 verdict to St. Ambrose (Iowa) in the morning and a 5-3 decision to Hannibal-La Grange (Mo.) on Sunday afternoon.

Festin's four singles led a 12-hit attack for USF and helped the Saints score a season-high nine runs.

USF jumped out to a 5-0 lead over Stritch in the first inning which included Festin's first run-scoring hit and a three-run home run by senior second baseman Beth Boezeman (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL). Freshman Jordan Halata (Lockport H.S./Homer Glen, IL) pitched the distance for USF and pushed her record to 3-1. She allowed four runs on eight hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk.

The Saints were blanked on just seven hits in the 5-0 loss to St. Ambrose. Junior shortstop Caitlin Dolan (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL), senior catcher Stacy Heap (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) and Festin all had two hits apiece. Sophomore pitcher Jackie Frey (Plainfield South H.S./Plainfield, IL) allowed eight hits and struck out nine. Only one of the five runs against her was earned.

USF let a 3-1 lead get away in the final two innings against Hannibal-La Grange. Junior pitcher Kim Malacina (Lockport H.S./Homer Glen, IL) took the loss but homered for the Saints' first run. Sophomore center fielder Megan O'Brien (Richards H.S./Oak Lawn, IL) was the lone Saint with two hits.

USF returns to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Cardinal Stritch at 3 p.m.
