JOLIET, Ill. - University of St. Francis pushed its baseball winning streak to nine games and its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference streak to 13 with a 12-2 victory over second-place Judson Friday afternoon at Silver Cross Field. The victory completed a sweep of the three-game series for the first-place Saints (27-12, 18-5).

USF scored runs in six of the seven innings played and ended the game early due to the 10-run rule. St. Francis got two in the first inning, one each in the second and third frames and broke the game open with three more in the fifth.

Senior third baseman Andy Zurales (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL) and freshman first sacker Joe Ruge (Riverside-Brookfield H.S./North Riverside, IL) enjoyed perfect days at the plate to key the USF attack. Zurales went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a run-scoring single and three runs scored. Ruge was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI doubles, a single, a walk and two runs plated.

Senior second baseman Steve Witczak (St. Rita H.S./Chicago, IL) also had three hits (3-for-5) with a run scored and two RBI. Senior left fielder Tom Serruto (Glenbard West H.S./Glen Ellyn, IL) contributed two hits and an RBI.

Starting pitcher Matt Huck (Marian Central Catholic H.S./McHenry, IL) pushed his record to 4-0 with a complete-game seven-hitter. He walked three and struck out four.

USF is now 18-5 in CCAC play and sits two games ahead of Saint Xavier (15-6) and Judson (16-7) and two-and-one-half games ahead of Olivet Nazarene (15-7). All teams play 30 games in conference action. The conference champion receives an automatic berth into the NAIA Opening Round of the national tournament. The second- through fifth-place finishers in the final standings will play a double-elimination tournament to determine the league's second entrant into the NAIA Opening Round.

USF plays host to Davenport University (Mich.) in a nonconference doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m. at Silver Cross Field. The Saints then host Lewis on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in another Silver Cross Field twin bill.
