PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - Host Trinity Christian hit a pair of three-run home runs before University of St. Francis could record an out in the bottom of the first inning of game number one of a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Saints, things didn't get much better the rest of the day.

The Trolls (17-28, 9-7) hit a total of six home runs on the afternoon and rolled to 7-0 and 10-4 wins over USF (21-22, 9-7) and moved into a tie for fourth place with the Saints in the conference standings. Both teams had already clinched berths in next week's six-team CCAC Championship Tournament and are now merely vying with sixth-place Judson (10-8) for tournament seeds.

The Saints managed to get eight hits in the opener but left eight runners on base and could not get one home. Senior center fielder Kendel Behrens (Morris H.S./Morris, IL) and junior shortstop Caitlin Dolan (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) each recorded a pair of hits for USF. Junior right fielder Kaylee Shell (Wilmington H.S./Wilmington, IL), sophomore left fielder Megan O'Brien (Richards H.S./Oak Lawn, IL), senior outfielder Maggie O'Shea (Wheeler H.S./Valparaiso, IN) and senior first baseman Stacy Heap (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) all added one hit apiece. Starting pitcher Jackie Frey (Plainfield South H.S./Plainfield, IL) suffered the loss (7-9).

USF got off to a better start in game two and grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The lead didn't last long, though, as TCC tied the game in the first and went ahead 2-1 after two innings and 3-1 after three.

USF got back within a single run in the fourth when sophomore third baseman Brittany Bochenek (Lockport H.S./Lockport, IL) hit her first career home run. But TCC countered with two runs of its own in the fourth and then put the game away with a four-run fifth inning.

Freshman pitcher Jordan Halata (Lockport H.S./Homer Glen, IL) had three of USF's seven hits in the nightcap and drove home two of the Saints' four runs. Bochenek had the home run and Shell, senior second baseman Beth Boezeman (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) and junior first baseman Lauren Panek (Lemont H.S./Lemont, IL) added singles for the Saints.

Halata (3-2) worked one out shy of five innings and was charged with the loss.

USF concludes its regular season on Thursday with a doubleheader at CCAC-leading Olivet Nazarene at 3 p.m.
