BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Three members of the University of St. Francis softball team were named to the All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference honor squads during the league's postseason championship tournament last week at Olivet Nazarene University.

Junior right fielder Kaylee Shell (Wilmington H.S./Wilmington, IL) and sophomore third baseman Jenny Festin (Lockport H.S./Lockport, IL) were each named to the league's first-team honor quad. Senior first baseman and catcher Stacy Heap (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) was an honorable mention selection.

Shell led Saints' regulars in hitting this season with a .389 batting average. She also topped the team with 51 base hits, 56 total bases, 12 sacrifice bunts and 18 stolen bases. She also was regarded as one of the CCAC's top outfielders, committing just four errors in 74 total chances and making numerous run-saving catches over the course of the season.

Festin anchored third base for the Saints and contributed a solid .341 batting average in her first season as a starter. She was charged with just 10 errors at third base, traditionally one of the toughest defensive spots to play in softball. She added four doubles, one triple and 10 RBI at the plate. Her .341 average was the third-highest among USF starters.

Heap closed the season on a hot streak and finished the year with a .271 overall batting average. It was her team-leading .417 batting average in CCAC play, though, that earned her postseason recognition. Heap hit safely in seven of her last nine regular-season CCAC contests as she became the Saints' primary first baseman in the last few weeks of the campaign.

USF completed the season with a 23-26 overall record and finished third in the CCAC championship tournament behind league and tourney champion Olivet Nazarene and runner-up Saint Xavier.
