JOLIET, Ill. - Junior Vicky McGowan (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Mokena, IL) tied for second place individually with a round of 83 as University of St. Francis finished second among four teams at the USF Fall Invitational. The 18-hole event was played at Inwood Golf Course.
McGowan finished just two strokes behind medalist Alyssa Gaudio of North Central College who led the field with a round of 81. USF's team score of 359 put the Saints 13 strokes behind North Central who captured the team title.
The next lowest scorers for St. Francis were entered as individuals and their scores did not count toward the Saints' team total. Juniors Ariel Jagmin (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) and Liz Eldridge (Wheaton St. Francis H.S./Glen Ellyn, IL) posted scores of 85 and 88, respectively.
Freshman Lauren Bone (Almont H.S./Almont, MI) finished in a tie for eighth with a round of 91 and junior Lindsey Karlson (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL) was right behind with a 92. Sophomore Rachael Anderson (Plainfield South H.S./Joliet, IL) carded a 93 to complete the Saints' scoring.
Freshman Ashleigh Offerman (Joliet Catholic Academy/Elwood, IL) posted a 94. Freshman Lindsey Wilson (Rogers H.S./Rogers, AR) shot a 101 and frosh Kali Hale (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL) finished with a 105.
The Saints travel to Waukegan on Friday to play in the Robert Morris University Fall Invitational at Foss Park Golf Course.
