The 15th Annual University of St. Francis 7-on-7 Football Passing Jamboree takes to a new home in 2010 with the completion of the Joliet Memorial Stadium Renovation Project.

Fans will get their first peak at the new turfed facility (3000 West Jefferson Street, Joliet ) on Saturday when many area schools unofficially kick off their 2010 seasons. A total of 30 different schools will participate over the next two weeks including local contingents Joliet Central, Lincoln-Way North, Providence Catholic, Wilmington, Lemont, Lincoln-Way West, Joliet Catholic and Morris. Others from the area include Lockport, Lincoln-Way East, Minooka, Romeoville, Coal City, Plainfield East and Lincoln-Way Central.

The jamboree also takes on a new format with groupings of four teams playing a round-robin schedule in one of three separate sessions.

In Saturday's 8 a.m. session, Lincoln-Way North, Oak Forest, Providence Catholic and Wilmington form a pool that will play at Joliet Memorial Stadium, while the pool of Joliet Central, Marian Catholic, Pontiac and Washington (Chicago) will square off at Pershing Fields (251 North Midland Avenue, Joliet).

In the 11 a.m. session, Eisenhower, Lemont, Lincoln-Way West and Elgin St. Edward take to the Stadium prior to the 2 p.m. session of Brooks (Chicago), Joliet Catholic, Morris and St. Francis de Sales.

Pairings have not yet been determined for the second session (June 19) although it is known that Jacobs, Joliet Catholic, Lockport, Lincoln-Way East, Minooka, Providence Catholic, Romeoville and Wilmington will make up the 8 a.m. session.

At 11 a.m., Coal City, Morris, Plainfield East, Carl Sandburg, Elgin St. Edward, St. Joseph and St. Viator will square off with Hubbard (Chicago), Lew Wallace (Gary, Ind.), Lincoln-Way Central and Robeson (Chicago) wrapping up activities on the 19th at 2 p.m.

The 7-on-7 concludes on June 26 with sophomore teams from Joliet Catholic, Lincoln-Way East, Pontiac, Elgin St. Edward, St. Viator, Wilmington and Lockport competing, not to mention Coal City, Lincoln-Way Central, Morris, Providence Catholic, Carl Sandburg and St. Francis de Sales.  All games for the June 26 session will take place at Pershing Fields.

Each hour-long contest will consist of 25 offensive and 25 defensive plays. Scores are not kept in the games, which are played on 50-yard fields.
