NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Freshman Ashleigh Offerman (Joliet Catholic Academy/Elwood, IL) fired an 87 and teammates Vicky McGowan (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Mokena, IL) and Rachael Anderson (Plainfield South H.S./Joliet, IL) followed with scores of 88 and 89, respectively, as University of St. Francis placed second among 10 teams at the North Central College Cardinal Classic.

The Saints battled a difficult Cress Creek Country Club course and finished just five strokes behind team champion Wheaton College. USF finished with a team score of 355, right behind Wheaton's 350.

Offerman's 87 put her into a tie for fourth place individually, only 4 strokes behind medalist Brittany Bronson of Wheaton. McGowan tied for sixth with her 88, a score that was more impressive after factoring in a 10 that she shot on a par 5 on her second hole of the day. Anderson tied for ninth with her 89.

USF's final counting score was a 91 shot by freshman Kali Hale (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL). Other USF finishers included freshmen Lindsey Wilson (Rogers H.S./Rogers, AR) who had a 99 and Lauren Bone (Almont H.S./Almont, MI) who carded a 101. Junior Liz Eldridge (St. Francis H.S./Glen Ellyn, IL) fired a 101 and fellow junior Lindsey Karlson (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL) who recorded a 105.

The Saints have now recorded two seconds and a tie for third in their three tournaments of the early fall season.
