LISLE, Ill. --- University of St. Francis swept through all three of its doubles matches against Benedictine University and then claimed five of six singles contests to earn an 8-1 victory in its first dual match of the 2010-2011 campaign on Wednesday.

A pair of freshmen, Princess Clemente (Andrew H.S./Tinley Park, IL) and Anne-Christine Tompkins (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL), helped guide the victory. The duo teamed up at No. 1 doubles for a 9-7 win before capturing 7-5, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-4 decisions at Nos. 1 and 3 singles, respectively.

Also claiming a pair of wins on the day were juniors Agnieszka Belza (Nazareth Academy/Chicago, IL) and Danielle Emola (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) and senior Barb Koziol (Reavis H.S./Burbank, IL).

Belza and Emola teamed up for an 8-2 No. 2 doubles win to go along with 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-3 singles victories, while Koziol posted an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles with senior Emily Zajda (Joliet Catholic Academy/Plainfield, IL) and a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 singles slot.

USF (1-0) opens its home campaign Friday facing North Central College in a 3 p.m. match at the Challenge Fitness Tennis Courts in Lockport.
