JOLIET, Ill. --- University of St. Francis scored both the first and last goals of its Sunday morning matchup with Missouri Valley College, but what was sandwiched in between was what did the Saints in in a 3-2 setback, leaving USF 0-2 in its own Fall Classic for the weekend.

The Vikings (3-2-1) scored all three of their goals over a 30-minute span, including one with just three seconds remaining in the first half, which turned out to be the difference.

USF freshman forward Matt Nieciunski (Stagg H.S./Palos Hills, IL) broke the 0-0 deadlock 29 minutes into the game on a rebound goal only to have Missouri Valley's Miroslav Petrovic answer just five minutes later with his unassisted goal from 30 feet out.

Christopher McCoy then beat the first-half horn with his shot from the right side 25 feet out off a feed from Angel Gomez Micha to propel the guests to a 2-1 halftime edge.

The Vikings, who totaled 24 shots for the day with 12 being on goal, extended the lead to 3-1 when Roderick Owusu connected on his second game-winning goal of the Classic from 60 feet out on a pass from Ash Veitch.

The Fighting Saints, who were limited to just six shots with only five on goal for the day, attempted to rally late when freshman forward Victor Trujillo (De La Salle Institute/Chicago, IL) converted from 60 feet out with just 3:30 to play. That, however, would wind up being USF's last shot attempt as Missouri Valley was able to hold on for its third victory in its last four games, including its 2-0 mark at the Classic.

The Saints (1-3-1) will look to get back on track Wednesday (Sept. 16) when they host Benedictine University in a 4 p.m. contest at the Galowich YMCA Soccer Complex.
