PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – A day after climbing three spots to the No. 12 position in the latest NAIA top-25 coaches' poll, the University of St. Francis softball team extended its winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep over host Trinity Christian College in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon. After taking the opener 9-0, the Saints held on for a 5-3 win in the nightcap.

With the two victories, USF (32-4) improved to 16-2 in CCAC play to maintain a three-game lead in the conference standings. Trinity Christian slipped to 15-17, 8-12.

Game 1 – USF 9, Trinity Christian 0

Junior Morghan Dieringer (New Lenox, Ill./ Lincoln-Way West) threw her third straight shutout and sixth of the season as USF won Wednesday's first game 9-0. Dieringer allowed three hits and one walk while collecting six strikeouts.

USF held a 3-0 lead before scoring six runs in the top of the sixth inning. Junior second baseman Brooke Karraker (Kankakee, Ill./ Herscher) led the Saints offensively with three doubles and four RBIs. Sophomore left fielder Hailey Lenth (Colona, Ill./ East Moline) went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while junior Lina Medo (Plainfield, Ill./ Plainfield South) delivered a two-run pinch-hit single.

Freshman first baseman Kayla Garcia (Chicago, Ill./ Lane Tech) belted a three-run home run as part of a four-run USF outburst in the opening frame as USF completed the sweep with a 5-3 victory in game two. Garcia's homer was her 11th of the season, one shy of matching the school season record.

Dieringer (16-3) went the distance to notch her second victory of the day. She allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Junior designated player Jensen Tchorzynski (Hillman, Mich./ Hillman) delivered a run-scoring double to cap the Saints' four-run first inning.
