JOLIET, Ill. – The St. Francis women's soccer team's unbeaten streak came to an end after a 2-0 loss to Davenport.

Both defenses limited their opponents to a few quality chances in the game. The teams combined for nine shots on goal, two of which were taken by the Saints.

The Panthers pulled in front in the 29th minute. A turnover in the box gave Katlyn Varney a point-blank chance and she fired home Davenport's first goal of the season.

USF's best chance came in the 79th minute on a penalty kick. Karley Draheim's (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) shot from the penalty spot hit the inside of the post and deflected across the face of goal, but did not go in.

Less than two minutes later, Davenport put the game out of reach on Varney's second goal of the day, this time assisted by Roheema Bennett.

Jessica Kiely (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) started for the first time this season and made five saves in the loss. Lorrin McCarty stopped two shots in goal for Davenport.

The Saints wrap up their five-game home stand on Tuesday when they host Clarke University at ATI Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
