JOLIET, Ill. - University of St. Francis fired a school record-low team score of 287 on Tuesday afternoon at Wedgewood Golf Course but the Fighting Saints still had to settle for second place in their own St. Francis Fall Classic.

NCAA Division II neighboring rival Lewis University captured the team crown with a 7-under par total of 281.The Saints were the only other team under par at 287, with Illinois Central College placing third at 290. USF's second team entrant placed fourth in the field with a score of 302.

The Saints displayed good team balance in the 18-hole tournament with its four counting scores being a 1-under par 71 and three even-par 72's.

Senior Steve Sourigno (Joliet Catholic Academy/Joliet, IL) shot the 71 and finished tied for ninth in the field of 104 golfers.

Sophomores Grant Whybark (Morris H.S./Morris, IL) and Mike Mysker (Andrew H.S./Tinley Park, IL) and junior Drew Anderson (Lockport H.S./Lockport, IL) each fired rounds of 72 and tied for 12th.USF's fifth golfer in its first team was freshman Martin Hetelle (Seneca H.S./Seneca, IL) who carded a 2-over par 74.

USF's second team was led by junior Pat Fitzgerald (Homewood-Flossmoor H.S./Flossmoor, IL) who also shot a par round of 72 and tied for 12th overall. Junior Brian Komp (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL) recorded a 74, and sophomore Kevin Wiatr (Lemont H.S./Lemont, IL) finished with a 77. Sophomore Steve Wojcik (Andrew H.S./Tinley Park, IL) had a 79 and junior Adam Billmeyer (Andrew H.S./Tinley Park, IL) shot an 81.

USF also had three players entered as individuals in the field. Junior Jim Mulcahy (Lyons Township H.S./Willow Springs, IL) shot an 80, with junior Tyler Keith (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL) carding an 82 and freshman Andrew Buchanan (Minooka H.S./Channahon, IL) posting an 84.

Blake Blumenstock of North Park University captured medalist honors with a 6-under par round of 66.
