AURORA, Ill. - University of St. Francis managed to split six singles matches but got swept in all three doubles affairs on Thursday as it dropped a 6-3 match at Aurora University.

USF got singles wins from freshman Katie Kipping (Newman Central Catholic H.S./Dixon, IL) at No. 1 (6-0, 6-1), senior Carla Braun (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL) at No. 5 (6-0, 6-4) and junior Barb Koziol (Reavis H.S./Burbank, IL) at No. 6 (3-6, 6-3, 10-3).

The match then hinged on the doubles play but the Saints lost all three and two of them by narrow margins. Kipping and sophomore Danielle Emola (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) dropped the No. 1 doubles match by an 8-6 score. Junior Corinne Lutz (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) and Koziol also fell by an 8-6 margin at No. 3 doubles.

USF (4-2) is off until next Wednesday (Sept. 23) when it plays host to Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) at 3:30 p.m. at the Challenge Fitness courts in Lockport.
