JOLIET, Ill. - Freshman Luke Zeiler (Lockport H.S./Homer Glen, IL) connected on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute of the first half for the game's only goal as University of St. Francis captured a nonconference men's soccer victory with a 1-0 blanking of Benedictine University Wednesday afternoon at the Galowich YMCA Field.

The Saints (2-3-1) snapped a two-match losing streak and won at home for the first time in four tries (1-2-1).

USF was the more aggressive team all afternoon as the Saints outshot the Eagles (3-3), 14-6 for the game.

Zeiler's goal came with just under four minutes left in the opening half after he was tackled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Zeiler led the Saints in shots on goal in the game with six. Freshman forward Victor Trujillo (De La Salle Institute/Chicago, IL) added five, freshman forward Matt Nieciunski (Stagg H.S./Palos Hills, IL) had two and freshman midfielder Willie Gutierrez (Thornwood H.S./South Holland, IL) was credited with one.

Sophomore goalkeeper Juan Santoliva (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S./Bourbonnais, IL) played the first 81 minutes in goal and turned away all six Benedictine shots on goal. Sophomore Bobby Markatos (Stagg H.S./Palos Hills, IL) minded the goal for the final nine minutes of the combined shutout.

The Saints are off this coming weekend and return to action next Monday, Sept. 21, when they play host to Clarke College (IA) at 4 p.m. at the Galowich YMCA.
