JOLIET, Ill. - Clarke College (IA) scored a pair of goals within seven minutes after University of St. Francis took a brief lead on a Michael Healy (Smithport H.S./Smithport, PA) goal and the Crusaders held on in the final 22 minutes to post a 3-2 nonconference victory over the Saints Monday afternoon at the Galowich YMCA.

Healy snapped a 1-1 tie 16 minutes into the second half when he knocked a rebound shot past the Clarke goalkeeper. It took Clarke just 36 seconds to knot the game up for a second time and then just a little more than seven minutes later the Crusaders scored the eventual gamewinner.

USF scored first less than three minutes into the game when freshman midfielder Luke Zeiler (Lockport H.S./Homer Glen, IL) broke free and caught up with a long punt off the foot of USF freshman goalkeeper Mike Moberg (Lyons Township H.S./Western Springs, IL) and nailed a shot from 20 yards out.

Clarke tied the game at one goal apiece in the 14th minute and the score remained that way for the rest of the first half.

The Saints finished the game with just 5 shots on goal and Zeiler led the way with a pair of them. The other three shots came from junior midfielder Luis Escorza (Plainfield Central H.S./Joliet, IL), Healy and freshman forward Victor Trujillo (De La Salle Institute/Chicago, IL).

The Saints (2-4-1) travel to Upland, Ind., on Friday for a nonconference match at Taylor University.
