ORLANDO, Fla. --- University of St. Francis' men's tennis team closed out its annual trek through Florida by dropping a 7-2 decision to NCAA II Wayne State University (MI) on Thursday.
USF's only victory on the double side came from the No. 2 team of seniors Jacob Quigley (Saint Xavier University/Joliet Catholic Academy/Joliet, IL) and Jakub Szymanski (Bethany College, KS/Poznan, Poland), 8-3. That win enabled Quigley and Szymanski to finish 3-2 on the trip paired in that spot.
Szymanski also won a match with sophomore Nikola Milenkovic (Anglo American School of Belegrade/Belgrade, Serbia) to finish 4-2 in doubles play on the trip.
Freshman Mark Zubov (St. Petersburg H.S./St. Petersburg, Russia) also completed a successful road trip with his 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, the only other victory on the day for the Saints. That win pushed Zubov's singles record on the trip back up to the break-even point at 3-3.
The Saints (2-8) take a week off before traveling to Bourbonnais, Ill. to face Olivet Nazarene University next Friday. USF hosts Davenport University (MI) on Saturday at the Challenge Fitness Tennis Courts in Lockport.
