
Sophomore Erin Voss scored 4 goals to lead USF to the 9-0 win.
JOLIET, Ill. - Sophomore forward Erin Voss (Nazareth Academy/Elmhurst, IL) scored a career-best four goals to lead University of St. Francis to a 9-0 victory over Holy Cross College (IN) in women's soccer action at the Galowich YMCA on Wednesday afternoon. The win was USF's first on the season (1-6) and gave the Saints a 1-0 record in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Voss notched three of her four goals in the first half as the Saints built a 5-0 lead over Holy Cross (1-6-1), which is in its fist year of varsity competition in women's soccer and in its initial season as a member of the CCAC.
Freshman forward Danice Carbajal (Merrillville H.S./Merrillville, IN) and senior midfielder Caitlin Byrnes (Plainfield South H.S./Joliet, IL) added first half-goals.
Freshman forward Delaney Goddard (Romeoville H.S./Romeoville, IL) scored a pair of goals in the second half, with freshman midfielder Amber Zukowski (Andrew H.S./Tinley Park, IL) and Voss accounting for the other two. Five of the nine USF goals on the game were unassisted. The four assists went to freshman midfielder Morgan Rowe (Ottawa H.S./Marseilles, IL), freshman defender Debbie Rios (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL), junior defender Michelle Maxwell (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) and freshman forward Ariel Goddard (Romeoville H.S./Romeoville, IL) who got the assist on her twin sister Delaney's second goal of the final half.
USF finished with 24 shots on goal and held Holy Cross to no shots on goal for the entire game. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Kekelik (T.F. South H.S./Lansing, IL) notched her first career shutout.
USF travels to Goshen College (IN) for a nonconference game on Saturday at 4 p.m. (CDT).
