LOCKPORT, Ill. --- University of St. Francis' women's tennis team opened in strong fashion winning two of three doubles matches against non-conference foe Davenport University (MI), but the Panthers got the better of the Saints in singles play where Davenport earned all but one victory for a 6-3 match win on Saturday night at the Challenge Fitness indoor courts.

St. Francis, which had its season-high four-match winning streak snapped with the loss, is now 6-7 on the season.

USF earned back-to-back 8-5 wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to begin play with freshman Princess Clemente (Andrew H.S./Tinley Park, IL) and senior Corinne Lutz (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) claiming the first win and seniors Barb Koziol (Reavis H.S./Burbank, IL) and Emily Zajda (Joliet Catholic Academy/Plainfield, IL) the second.

Koziol, however, was the lone Saint to carry that momentum on to singles play, where she outlasted Kelly Todd, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 10-6, in the No. 6 position.

Junior Danielle Emola (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) just missed out on picking up a singles win herself falling 6-4, 6-7 (8-10), 10-4 in the No. 5 slot.

The Saints take the next 10 days off before opening the inaugural Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference season on March 29 at Judson University.
