CHICAGO - Four members of the University of St. Francis softball team were recently named to the All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference honor squads during the league's postseason championship tournament at Saint Xavier University.

Senior right fielder Kaylee Shell (Wilmington H.S./Wilmington, IL), senior pitcher Kim Malacina (Lockport H.S./Homer Glen, IL) and freshman outfielder Natalie Ward (Marian Catholic H.S./Crete, IL) were each named to the league's first-team honor quad. Senior catcher C.J. Rupsis (Bolingbrook H.S./Bolingbrook, IL) was a second-team selection.

Shell hit .380 on the season in the leadoff position for the Saints. She topped the team with 60 total hits and was successful in 14 of 15 stolen base attempts. Considered one of the league's top defensive outfielders, only three of her five 2011 errors were committed in the outfield this season.

Malacina completed her career with a career-best 15-5 record, matching her career high in victories. She posted a 2.30 earned run average and fired 15 complete games in 17 starts with four shutouts.

Ward led the Saints in hitting with a .402 batting average. She led the Saints with 10 doubles, 73 total bases and 26 RBI. An outstanding defensive player as well, Ward was charged with only two errors in the outfield in 37 total chances.

Rupsis finished the season strong and posted a .342 batting average for her senior year. She was errorless in 99 total chances behind the plate.

USF completed the season with a 24-20 overall record and finished third in the CCAC championship tournament behind tourney champion Olivet Nazarene and runner-up Saint Xavier.
