
ELGIN, Ill. - University of St. Francis rolled to its second straight 9-0 win with a blanking of Judson Wednesday afternoon. It marked the Saints' third 9-0 win in their last four matches and their fourth in the last six and moved the Saints' overall record to 7-3.
Freshman Katie Kipping (Newman Central Catholic H.S./Dixon, IL) pushed her dual meet singles record to 10-0 on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. She also paired with sophomore Danielle Emola (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) to win the No. 1 doubles bout at 8-0.
Emola and the rest of the Saints also won in straight sets in the remaining singles matches. Emola won by scores of 6-1 and 6-1 t No. 2. Junior Corinne Lutz (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) won at No. 3 by a 6-2, 6-3 score and sophomore Agnes Belza (Nazareth Academy/Chicago, IL) was a winner at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-0 score. Senior Carla Braun (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL) and senior Kelly Pruett (Morris H.S./Minooka, IL) each blanked their foes by 6-0, 6-0 scores at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
Belza teamed with junior Emily Zajda (Joliet Catholic Academy/Plainfield, IL) to win at No. 2 doubles (8-1) and Braun and Lutz claimed an easy win at No. 3 doubles (8-1).
The Saints travel to St. Louis this weekend to participate in the ITA Midwest Regionals. All play will be individual singles and doubles competition with no team scores. Other teams entering players include Olivet Nazarene, Robert Morris, McKendree and Missouri Baptist.
