
With close to 300 runners at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championship Meet in Normal, Ill., the University of St. Francis' Hilary Halford (Antioch, Ill.) ran with the best in the state of Illinois and is the CCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. St. Francis finished sixth in the college division and 10th overall.
Setting the school record in the 5K, Halford led the University of St. Francis to a 10th place overall finish and to sixth place in the college division. Halford crossed the finish line in 12th place out of 291 runners with a time of 18:08 as the top NAIA runner. She was second in the college division with that time and finished just five seconds behind the University of Chicago's Rachel Ohman. The University of St. Francis, who is receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll, finished behind #4 Olivet Nazarene to lead the NAIA in the race for team finishes. The race featured six NCAA Division I programs and several NAIA and NCAA Division III programs.
