LOCKPORT, Ill. --- University of St. Francis' home court dominance continued at the Challenge Fitness Tennis Courts as the Fighting Saints rang up their fourth straight 9-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon, this time handling Robert Morris University.
The match had to be moved indoors due to Tuesday's inclement weather conditions, but that did not deter head coach Ralph Kwilosz's team one bit, especially at No. 2 and 3 doubles where USF (8-3) posted 8-0 blankings. Junior Emily Zajda (Joliet Catholic Academy/Plainfield, IL) and sophomore Agnieszka Belza (Nazareth Academy/Chicago, IL) took care of business in the former slot, while senior Carla Braun (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL) and junior Corinne Lutz (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) did the same at No. 3.
Sophomore Danielle Emola (Lincoln-Way East H.S./Frankfort, IL) and freshman Katie Kipping (Newman Central Catholic H.S./Dixon, IL) had to work overtime to provide the doubles sweep earning an 8-7 (7-4) victory in the No. 1 position.
In singles action, Kipping, Emola and junior Barb Koziol (Reavis H.S./Burbank, IL) all won 8-4, with Lutz posting an 8-2 win and Belza an 8-0 decision.
Braun kept USF's unbeaten streak alive at home fighting off Mallory Mengelt at No. 5 singles, 9-8 (7-2).
The Saints, who have already doubled their win count of one year ago, face perennial thorn Olivet Nazarene University on Thursday afternoon in Bourbonnais at 3 p.m.
