JOLIET, Ill. --- University of St. Francis played a near flawless defensive game and ran its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference record to 5-0 with a three-game sweep of Saint Xavier in volleyball action Tuesday night at the Recreation Center.

The Saints (19-8, 5-0) accumulated 48 digs and 15 total blocks in the three-game match as they posted convincing wins of 25-16, 25-9 and 25-16 over the Cougars (11-11, 2-2).

Senior libero Courtney Ambrosch (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, IL) paced the Saints' defensive effort with 16 digs, while junior middle blocker Kyrsten Becker (Rolling Meadows H.S./Arlington Heights, IL) added 10.

Freshman defensive specialist Dana Wettergren (Oak Forest H.S./Oak Forest, IL) added 9 digs including a pair of nearly impossible plays that kept rallies going that led to USF points.

Becker and fellow junior middle Lauren Hoffman (Plainfield South H.S./Plainfield, IL) each had 4 blocks. The Saints were perfect on 37 service reception attempts, with Becker picking up 12, Wettergren 10 and Ambrosch 9.

Offensively, freshman outside hitter Jazzmyne Robbins (La Salle-Peru H.S./Peru, IL) topped the Saints with 13 kills and just 2 hitting errors in 31 total attempts. Hoffman added 8 kills, with sophomores Kristee Conrad (Stagg H.S./Hickory Hills, IL) and Sarah Ahline (Lemont H.S./Lemont, IL) each contributing 7.

USF remains at home for another critical CCAC match against Illinois Tech on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Scarlet Hawks are a game behind conference co-leaders USF and Olivet Nazarene in the CCAC standings.
