
PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. --- University of St. Francis extended its winning streak to three games rallying behind senior center Jordan's Lee's (Southeastern Oklahoma State University/Champaign, IL) game-high 23 points and team-best seven rebounds for an 88-77 victory over Trinity Christian College Wednesday night at DeVos Gymnasium.
The Saints (3-1) opened up a 15-4 advantage at the start and led by as many as 15 points no fewer than three times in the opening half only to have Trinity Christian (1-4) rattle off 10 of 12 points late in the half to pull within two points, 44-42, with 55 seconds remaining.
Sophomore guard Andrew Lerg's (DeWitt H.S./DeWitt, MI) three-pointer 33 seconds later provided a five-point cushion, 47-42, at the break for the Saints, who shot nearly 60 percent from the field (20-of-34) for the half.
A 14-4 run by Trinity Christian to open the second half provided the Trolls with their first lead of the night as well as their biggest advantage of the contest at 56-52 with 13:23 remaining. The hosts did not relinquish that lead until just under seven minutes remained when Lee and three other Saints who scored in double figures went back to work.
Senior guard Derek Ciezczak (Stagg H.S./Hickory Hills, IL) connected for 12 of his 15 points after the break with senior forward Lukas Zebrauskas (Stagg H.S./Palos Heights, IL) coming off the bench to total 9 of his 13 points after halftime as well as five of his seven boards. Cieszczak also provided five assists for the game.
Senior guard Robbie Butcher (Stagg H.S./Orland Park, IL) added 12 points for the contest with senior guard Chris Elder (Bowen H.S./Chicago, IL) chipping in nine points and four assists for the Saints, who shot 54 percent for the game.
St. Francis caps off its brief two-game road trip Sunday in Crawfordsville, Indiana facing Wabash College at 2 p.m. Central time.
