Sophomore Stephen Michaels scored his first two collegiate goals to lead USF.
SCHERERVILLE, Ind. --- Sophomore defender Stephen Michaels (Minooka H.S./Channahon, IL) scored a pair of first-half goals as University of St. Francis remained the only unbeaten men's soccer team in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 win over Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) Tuesday afternoon.
The Saints (5-4-2, 2-0-1) never trailed after Michaels notched his first two collegiate goals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Juan Santoliva (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S./Bourbonnais, IL) -- who earlier in the day was named the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week for last week's efforts -- relieved starting goalie Alex McKanna (Plainfield South H.S./Plainfield, IL) early in the second half with the Saints holding a 2-1 lead and he blanked the Crimson Wave (3-7-2, 1-2-1) the rest of the way. Santoliva has now not allowed a goal in nearly 400 minutes of play.
USF comes home Friday afternoon to play host to Olivet Nazarene at 4 p.m. at the Galowich YMCA.
