Romeoville- The USF Men's Track team started the indoor track season with a bang as they traveled across town to Lewis University for the Dick Pond Open. Both on the track and in the field events, the Saints shined.

The field events were dominated by Joshua Barry. Barry led the way for the Saints by winning the weight throw with a mark of 16.28, and finishing second  in the shot put with a heave of 14.22m. In addition to Barry's performance, Gregory Macek tied for fourth in the shot with a new personal best of 13.24.

Steven Grajak also had an excellent day. His most noteworthy performance came when he closed the meet by winning the triple jump with a distance of 12.93m, but he also started the meet in the high where he finished second place with a mark of 1.75m.

On the track, key members were resting for the weekend, but that did not prevent top performances. USF had a strong showing in the 400m open, but it was Vincenzo Leone started his season off best finishing with a second place finish with an impressive 51.85. The performance of the night went to Adam Yost. Yost went head to head with a Lewis University athlete in the 1,000m run for a thrilling race. After making a strong move in the final 150m, Yost was able to cross the finish in 2:33.09, a time good enough for a NAIA National qualifying mark in just the first meet of the year.

The Saints return to action on January 20th as they travel to Grand Rapids, MI for the Grand Valley State University Invitational.
