John Nikchevich returns for his second season as head coach of the Saints' women's soccer program.
Nikchevich led his young USF squad to a 3-12 finish overall in 2008 and a 2-7 mark in the rugged Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The CCAC had five schools that were nationally ranked or had received votes in the NAIA Top 25 at one point on another during the 2008 campaign.
Nikchevich came to St. Francis after putting together an impressive soccer coaching record at the high school and club levels. He continues to coach in those divisions in addition to his duties at USF.
He led Nazareth Academy High School to back-to-back girls soccer regional championships in 2006 and '07 and again to another regional title in 2009. The championships represented the first-ever regional titles for the Nazareth program.
In addition to his current success at Nazareth, Nikchevich has made a name for himself as one of the top girls soccer club coaches in the Chicago area. He previously directed the Sockers FC Chicago club from 2001-03, winning titles in U-16, U-17 and U-23 divisions. He also led the Eclipse U-19 Club team to a third-place national finish in 2004.
